What Kind of Laundry Trough to Get

A functional Laundry Trough is essential in your laundry room. In the utilitarian and most functional room in the house, laundries are able to be forgotten when designing a new house or renovating an existing one. However, the correct laundry trough can save you precious time and valuable organization, so it is important to find one to fit the specific needs of each family member. Here are a few things to consider when looking for a new laundry trough:

What size would you want? Most families would call for a smaller size than is generally required in order to fit their washing machine, but that doesn’t mean that small or prefabricated trays wouldn’t be acceptable. It’s important to decide on a size that would accommodate your particular washing machine and, if necessary, a large washer and dryer.

Choosing a design. There are many different designs available. The easiest way to start your search would be to decide on what kind of layout would work best in your laundry tub. If you have curved flooring such as wood, you could choose from several step-over designs. Or perhaps a step-down design would work better with your rectangular walls.

Fixtures. Now that you have decided on a design and size, you need to pick out a suitable faucet and fixtures. You’ll probably want to match your new laundry trough with your new faucets and accessories. There are many types of faucets available, from modern-looking chrome faucets to antique brass faucets. No matter which type of faucet you choose, make sure it matches your sink.

Placement. Once you’ve chosen your faucets, sinks, and fixtures, it’s time to think about placement. Some places are better for certain items, such as a washer and dryer. Others are better for other items, such as a small vanity sink, or even a wall-mounted laundry sink. Here are some ideas to help you decide.

First, consider the layout of your home. Larger homes usually have more room around them, so they can hold larger laundry tubs and greater storage space, such as a built-in linen closet. Smaller homes may have more room but may not have the amount of storage needed. Also, keep in mind the height of your laundry tub or sink. If you’re putting a high wall-mounted laundry tub next to your counter, it may be harder for you to reach lower depths than you’d like.

Second, think about counter space. Counter space is very important if you’re placing a laundry tub on top of a counter. You want at least two feet of clearance on each side of the counter, and more is ideal. If you have stainless steel sinks that sit right on your countertop, you’ll also want to make sure there is plenty of clearance behind the stainless steel sinks for your hand towels and other items. The last thing you want is to set your laundry tub down on a counter and discover a week later that everything in your cupboard is now resting on the floor because you couldn’t get to it without moving everything.

Finally, think about height. Larger laundry tubs generally take up more space than a smaller ones. So, you’ll need to give some thought to where you want the trough to be. Is it better off raised above your kitchen? Or should you put it on an edge, and maybe angle the laundry tub so that the water will run from the lower drain into the upper drain – this allows you to have a smaller, taller laundry trough.
