Galaxy S21 Ultra is Samsung’s latest phone in Singapore and you should not wait for the S22. The S21 Ultra is still considered a beast of a smartphone with capable hardware, a best-in-class camera, and plenty of features. Being a flagship smartphone means that it comes with a flagship price tag but you can get a fair price on it if you do decide to make a compromise and get it on a contract with one of the carriers in Singapore.
If you are still not convinced that the Galaxy S21 Ultra is worth having, there are a few features and specs that you should keep in mind. They make the smartphone much more desirable than almost any other smartphone out there.
The Hardware
Samsung released the S21 Ultra in 2 different configurations. In China, it uses the Snapdragon 888 5G SoC. Everywhere else, we get the Exynos 2100 SoC which is marginally better. The device uses an Octa-core CPU and comes with the Mali-G78 MP14 GPU. The SoC, CPU, and GPU combined to make the score the highest in benchmarking tests. Only the next generation of Galaxy smartphones may be able to top its scores.
Storage and RAM variations offer plenty of choices. There is a 128 GB version with 8 GB of RAM which is the base one and 3 other variations with 12 GB of RAM. The top of the line is a 512 GB of internal storage and 16 GB of RAM version which is far too expensive compared to the base model. In real-life tests, very few users will make use of all that RAM. 12 GB is plenty for most.
The display is best-in-class. It uses a dynamic AMOLED with a 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. Other phones brag about 144 Hz or 160 Hz refresh rates but in reality, you will not notice the difference between the 3.
Looking at the camera, the story continues. Samsung used a quad-camera setup that is capable of taking pictures almost as good as a professional DSLR camera. This achievement can partially be attributed to their software image processing, optical stabilization, and good performance even in low light conditions.
Should You Get it Now or Wait?
Galaxy S21 Ultra is Samsung’s latest phone in Singapore but the S22 is right around the corner. When the next generation of Galaxy phones arrives in retail stores, the S21 Ultra will get discounted. The discount may not be that noteworthy if you get the S21 on a contract. In simple words, if you are unhappy with your existing phone and have been looking at the S21 Ultra, it may be worth it to pull the trigger and get it now. On the other hand, if you are not in a rush to swap your smartphone with a new one, you could wait for S22 to launch.
Regardless, the S21 Ultra has been such a successful smartphone and well designed that it will remain a very capable device that is worth having even years from now. If you can get it today for a reasonable price on a contract, you will certainly enjoy it.
