Linking Aadhaar with UAN using UMANG app
To link Aadhaar with UAN using government’s UMANG app, below are the steps you need to follow:-
- Download the UMANG app on your smartphone, laptop, etc.
- Register or log in to the website using your credentials
- Go to the ‘Link Aadhaar with UAN” option
- Input your UAN
- You’ll receive an OTP on your UAN registered mobile number
- After OTP verification, fill in your Aadhaar details in the column assigned to it
- You’ll receive another OTP on your registered mobile number and email ID registered with Aadhaar
- After successful verification of OTP, the Aadhaar and UAN will be linked and the details of UAN and Aadhaar are matched
Linking Aadhaar with UAN through biometric data on EPFO‘s e-KYC portal
To link Aadhaar with UAN using biometric data, you should only possess a registered biometric device which will be used for Aadhaar verification. Now to begin the process:
- Visit the e-KYC page of the official EPFO website https://iwu.epfindia.gov.in/eKYC/
- Go to “Link UAN Aadhaar” option under “For EPFO member” section available on the homepage
- Provide your UAN
- You will get an OTP on your mobile number mentioned in the UAN
- Enter the OPT and upon successful verification, enter your Aadhaar card details
- Choose Aadhaar verification method using biometric
- A registered biometric device will capture your biometric details
- After verification of the same, your Aadhaar will be linked to UAN and Aadhaar details will be matched
Linking through OTP on the e-KYC portal of Employee Provident Fund Organization
Below are the steps to link Aadhaar with UAN using one-time password facility on the e-KYC portal of EPFO:-
- Go to https://iwu.epfindia.gov.in/eKYC/
- Click on “for EPFO members” option and then on “Link UAN Aadhaar” option in the sub-menu
- Fill in your UAN
- You will then receive a one-time password on your UAN registered mobile number
- Input the OTP
- Upon successful verification, fill in your Aadhaar card details in the column assigned to it
- Choose the appropriate Aadhaar verification method (mobile or email based OTP)
- Another OTP will be sent to Aadhaar-registered mobile number and email
- After verification of the same, your Aadhaar will be linked to UAN and the Aadhaar details will be matched
In addition to this, there is also an offline method to link Aadhaar with UAN. The EPFO in partnership with the Common Service Centre (CSC) has developed an Aadhaar seeding application. The Common Service Centers are front end service delivery points established in rural areas to deliver government and private services. For the Aadhaar-UAN linking, a provident fund member can reach any of the EPFO or the CSC center with his Aadhaar card and UAN for easy linking of both.
How is linking Aadhaar with UAN Beneficial?
Though government does not mandate people to link Aadhaar with UAN, but for the personal convenience and benefit, people must get the linking done. It helps them keep a track of their PF account by knowing the course of action taking place in the PF account. Also, it will give you a complete detail of your finances for better retirement planning. Plus, provident fund settlement also becomes smoother if you link Aadhaar with UAN.
Documents required at UAN KYC portal
The Employee Provident Fund Organization has precisely mentioned 8 essential documents needed for KYC compliance listed as follows:-
- Ration Card
- Voter ID Card, or the Election Card
- Driving License
- Passport
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card or the Permanent Account Number
- Bank Account Number along with the IFSC code
- National Population Register (NPR) or the identity database preserved by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India
